What is Eastern Stone Massage Therapy?
Eastern stone massage therapy also known as hot stone is a unique specialty massage where the therapist uses both smooth, heated basalt stones, as either an extension of their own hands, or by placing them on the body while they massage other parts of the body.
The heat produced from the stones during the treatment is soothing and deeply relaxing, but also helps warm up tight muscle tissue allowing the therapist to work more deeply with their hands. Hot stone massage is a tantalising delicious and luxurious treatment, offering deep therapeutic comfort and healing…total bliss.
Benefits of Hot Stone Massage Therapy
As with other massage therapies, hot stone massage therapy is associated with many health benefits, benefits such as, relaxation of the muscles, which in-turn helps in reducing emotional stress, plus also helps to release toxins and reduce muscle aches and pains. And by improving the circulation throughout the body it promotes well-being and overall health.
Hot Stone Massage Therapy can be used as an alternative therapy to relieve symptoms associated with certain health conditions such as arthritis, anxiety, stress, back pain, depression, insomnia and problems related to blood circulation. Cold stones can also be introduced during the treatment.
What to Expect During Your Treatment
The most common preferred treatment will usually start on the back of the body, as this is the easiest way to get you into a relaxed state of tranquility. However, we do offer an Eastern traditional routine where the treatment begins on the front of the body whilst you lay on top of hot stones, the choice is yours.
At the beginning of the treatment we gradually introduce heat by first warming our hands off the stones, and then applying this heat to your body with gentle effleurage strokes, once your body has adjusted to the heat, the stones will then be introduced to the shoulder area then gradually working down your body finishing at the feet, where you will then turn over to continue the treatment on the front of the body.
